Oracle Independent Consultants LLC
Oracle Student Intern Program
ORGANIZATION PROFILE: Oracle Independent Consultants LLC is a global virtual Oracle Consulting Firm. Our mission is to leverage the resources, experience, education, talents and motivation of our member consultants to increase their revenue and/or reduce their costs and provide tools and resources they can use to continuously improve their skill set to provide real value to our customers.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Oracle Independent Consultants LLC (OIC LLC) Oracle Student Intern Program (OSIP) provides students with an opportunity to gain real world experience, earn money and prepare themselves for work in the IT Industry upon graduation. Companies that need Oracle resources to help implement Oracle Technology and/or Applications can reduce their IT Costs by hiring OIC LLC Oracle Student Interns to work on these projects. Moreover, this enables the company to promote IT work students as many of these interns will enter the IT Industry upon graduation. Mentors that participate in the Oracle Student Intern Program earn $80/hour for their remote mentor services. They also have an opportunity to promote their services. Moreover, this is a great source of income to have when you are between assignments. As member consultants of the OIC LLC, the mentors have access to the Oracle Partner Portal and Oracle Vision Databases for Release 11.5.10 and Release 12.0.6. They can use these resources to “practice” and improve their skill sets. Introduction We design, develop, implement, market, sell and administer member consultant programs that leverage the resources, experience, education, talents and motivation of our member consultants to increase their revenues and/or decrease their operating costs and continuously improve their skill set. Program Provisions We market and sell the services of our Oracle Student Interns through Oracle consulting firms and companies that need Oracle resources. The duration of the project must be, at least, 90 days to provide some stability and real opportunity to learn for the student intern. This also enables us to allocate a Mentor's cost over a larger base to keep an intern rate below $35 per hour.
REQUIREMENTS (if any): Requirements Students who wish to participate in the Oracle Student Intern Program must satisfy the following requirements: • Attend a US College or University • Provide Laptop to do our work • Complete and return the Intern Worksheet • Become a member consultant of the OIC LLC • Have very good written and oral communication skills • Student must be willing to work for $15 per hour • Maintain 3.0 GPA (I will take your word) Member Consultant Requirement I require our Oracle Student Interns to become member consultants of the OIC LLC for several reasons, including: Provides intern with free access to our Oracle Partner Network (OPN) Portal to enable the student to complete the training program developed by that student’s mentor. The intern has can access hundreds of Oracle free Online Courses, iSeminars, and Webinars. Provides intern with free access to our dedicated Oracle Vision Instances for Release 11.5.10.2 and Release 12.0.6. The interns use these instances to complete the exercises that the mentors assign to them. Provides free access to MetaLink, which is Oracle knowledge base. You may not realize this yet, but you will have free access to tools and resources that can literally help you “jump start” your career. All you have to do is put in the time and effort. Membership Cost Currently, an Oracle Student Intern can become a member consultant for only $50 per year. Obviously, this price does not come close to covering the cost to design, develop, implement, market, sell and administer this program. So, on May 1, 2009, we will have to raise this cost to $100 or $150 to enable us to cover the cost of additional administrative help so that we can provide a higher level of service to our interns. Student is Matched with Mentor Once we know the Oracle Technology or Application that the student will install and/or implement, we match that student with an Oracle Professionals with more than ten (10) years of ‘hands on’ experience installing and/or implementing the technology. Student Training Program Each mentor develops a training program for the student that he or she mentor’s to enable the student to gain some “hands on” experience before the student arrives at the project site. The mentor can use his or her own training material. In addition, the mentor has access to all Oracle training resources, which are available on the Oracle Partner Network )OPN)Portal. The Program provides the mentor with three (3) hours to complete the training plan for the student intern. The mentors and the students also have access to the Oracle Vision Databases for Release 11.5.10.2 and Release 12.0.6. The student intern can use these Vision Instances to complete exercises assigned to him or her by the mentor. The student is required to complete the prescribed self paced training courses before he or she arrives on site. Monitoring Student Progress by Mentor The Oracle Student Intern program provides for five (5) hours of support by the mentor for each week. This enables the mentor to communicate with the Project Manager regarding the Student Intern’s progress. Moreover, it provides additional time for the mentor to communicate with the Student Intern on a daily basis. At the end of each week, both the Student Intern and the Mentor prepare a status report that they send to the OIC LLC Director of Oracle Intern Program and to the Project Manager. All mentors must be member consultants of the OIC LLC to be eligible to participate in the Oracle Student Intern Program. This provides them with access to the Oracle Partner portal and Oracle Vision Instances. Director of Oracle Intern Program The Director of the Oracle Student Intern Program is responsible for account management and he or she communicates with the client, project manager, etc. To ensure that our student intern exceed their expectations. As this program grows, we may add Regional Directors. Rates All OIC LLC Oracle Student Interns are billed at rates significant lower than market rates (i.e. Approximately $35 per hour). Payroll The OIC LLC Oracle Student Interns and Mentors use TFI Resources, which is our employer of record. TFI provides payroll funding and other payroll related services for the OIC LLC and they will execute a contract with the Oracle consulting firm or company that wants to use these resources. TFI pays all consultants weekly via direct deposit. Moreover, all Oracle Student Interns and Mentors have an opportunity to purchase health insurance at group rates. Conclusion We are really excited about the OIC LLC Oracle Student Intern Program. It is consistent with our Mission and Vision statements and it fits our business model in that it leverages the experience, education and talents of our member consultants to benefit other member consultants. Furthermore, the program enables companies to reduce their IT Costs by providing Oracle resources at significantly reduced rates. To learn more send email to rdrolet@oraapps.net
