ESPN Cleveland Football 2012


ORGANIZATION PROFILE: Get hands-on experience in the sports and radio world at ESPN 850 WKNR and ESPN 1540 KNR2. Work with on-air hosts, learn radio production, work as a reporter at games, and get involved in promotions and marketing at ESPN Cleveland.


POSITION DESCRIPTION: ESPN 850 WKNR and ESPN 1540 KNR2 are looking for hard working, dedicated students for our internship program. The successful candidate must be goal-oriented and self-motivated, eager to learn and take leadership roles, demonstrate an interest in sports marketing, and possess a desire to exceed already high expectations.

Internship responsibilities are in the areas of programming, promotions, marketing, sales, production, and engineering. In-office responsibilities will include production duties such as cutting sound, transcribing interviews, running the sound board, writing letters, preparing sales materials, researching, planning and executing major events & promotions, and updating the station website. Out-of-office responsibilities will include assisting with the stations’ marketing efforts and events, promoting at events (sports games, local bars and restaurants, clubs, and retail locations), and assisting with the set-up and execution of live broadcasts at various locations throughout the Cleveland area. Additional projects designed to meet learning objectives will be assigned as interns enter a specific Department Focus program. Interns will be assigned a mentor at the office to guide them through the program as well.


REQUIREMENTS (if any): KEY INFORMATION:
This ESPN Cleveland internship is a non-paid internship and candidates must be receiving school credit
ESPN Cleveland has high expectations for the internship program. Candidates must be motivated and possess an attention to detail. If you are not a self-starter, you need not apply
Hours: Interns are required to work 2 days in the office (6-8 hour shifts) minimum per week- preferably during regular business hours. Hours will be mutually agreed upon. Interns are also required to make themselves available for 2 days outside of the office to participate in promotional events
All candidates must possess a vehicle and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
All candidates must go through an interview process before being accepted into the program

INTERNSHIP SESSIONS:
Basketball 2012: January 9th-May 7th (Resumes must be received by December 9th)
Baseball 2012: May 7th-August 27th (Resumes must be received by April 13th)
Football 2012: August 27th-December 31st (Resumes must be received by August 3rd)
Basketball 2013: December 31st-April 29th (Resumes must be received by December 7th)
