ORGANIZATION PROFILE: Jefferson Consulting Group (JCG) provides strategic business and marketing advice, procurement assistance, and lobbying services to client firms in the health care, information technology, security, telecommunications and construction industries.
Strategic Marketing and Government Procurement Assistance: JCG assists clients in identifying business opportunities created by statutory and regulatory changes, government strategic plans or annual performance objectives. When government agencies are seeking contract assistance, JCG helps clients make bid/no bid decisions; develop a clear message and value equation; assess competitors; identify desirable teaming partners; manage proposal development; and assist with pricing and contract negotiations. In several cases, JCG has helped clients persuade government agencies to undertake pilot projects to demonstrate "proof of concept" for innovative solutions to long-standing government problems.
Lobbying: JCG provides full-service Washington office representation, as well as assistance with specific lobbying campaigns. JCG tracks statutory, regulatory and policy changes which affect clients' business interests, introduces clients to government decision makers, and designs and implements targeted Congressional and administration advocacy campaigns, teaming with other interest groups as needed.
Government Consulting: Jefferson Solutions, a division of JCG, consults to government agencies, assisting them in developing innovative strategies for budgeting, acquisition reform, business process reengineering and security assessments. Agency experience includes Department of Defense, Department of Commerce, Department of Transportation, Department of Energy, Department of Treasury and the National Institutes of Health.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This internship program is best suited for students with an educational background and experience with American political science, public policy and business administration. Interns work directly with Project Managers on client related activities. Responsibilities include issue, policy and market research and analysis, Bill tracking, legislative hearing attendance and summarization as well as other project oriented tasks.
REQUIREMENTS (if any): Students should be at the minimum level of rising Junior.
